Joseph Frisina

Joseph A. Frisina, age 81 of Madera, CA, and most recently of Fairview, PA, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at the VA Medical Center in Erie, PA, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.  

Born in Meadville, PA July 13, 1936, Joe was the son of the late Anthony and Antoinette (Baretta) Frisina.

Joe was a 1954 graduate of Meadville High School and served in the United States Navy right after high school graduation until 1958.  He was proud of his two years of service on the USS Noa and his two years stationed in Germany.  

Joe was employed for much of his career at a local family-owned grocery store in Madera, California where he had many longtime friends, retiring in 2001.

Joe loved playing golf and belonged to the Madera Country Club and also was an excellent handyman who could fix or repair anything. In retirement he became a trusted and valued handyman for many in his community until his illness no longer allowed him to work. 

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by two sisters, Theresa Baiera and Rose Passander, and two brothers, John and Steve Frisina.

Joe is survived by his sons, Joseph of Erie, and William (Dianna) of Fresno, CA, as well two granddaughters, Sophia and Haley, also of Fresno, CA. In addition, he has four brothers Anthony (Rose) of Meadville, PA; Sam of Fresno, CA; Dominic (Marcia) of Erie, PA; and Pete (Kathy) of Erie, PA. He will continue to be loved by many nieces and nephews and their families.

Friends and family will be received at St. Mary of Grace Catholic Church, 1085 Water Street Meadville, PA 16335 at 12:30 pm on Saturday, December 9, 2017, and a memorial mass will be celebrated at 1 pm with Fr. Thomas Trocchio and Rev. Dr. Anthony Alleruzzo as celebrants.  Burial will be private.  Arrangements are under the care of Burton Funeral Home, 3801 West 26^th St., Erie, PA 16506.
