Joseph Alfred Lionel Fournier, age 89, passed away peacefully at Manchester Commons on Tuesday, November 23rd, 2021.
He was born in Holyoke, Massachusetts on November 17th 1932, son of late Edouard and Alice Boulanger Fournier.
Joe was a member of St Peter Cathedral. He loved spending time with family and researching family genealogy all the way back to 1530. He enjoyed traveling especially visiting the great cathedrals of Europe. He graduated from Holyoke High School and the University of Massachusetts with a BS in Electrical Engineering and worked at General Electric in Erie, PA as an Electrical Engineer for 40 years before retiring in 1997. Joe was passionate about his work at GE which led to him inventing several patents. He then enjoyed his retirement years which included tinkering with his 1950 MG TD.
Joe is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Jane Macosko Fournier; children, Joseph E Fournier, of Erie, Adrienne M Palmiere (James), of Virginia Beach, VA, and Monique A Fournier (husband, Brian Cobaugh), of Pittsburgh, PA; grandchildren, James, Lauren, and Mia Palmiere; sisters, Denise Milane (Herbert), of Liverpool, NY, and Irene Fournier, of Holyoke, MA; in-laws, Christine and George Opron, Kathleen and Alan Gick, and Lynne and David Yaple; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Roger Fournier; sister, Rolande Joyal; and in-laws, Peter and Mary Macosko and Patricia and William Oatman.
Friends may call at St. Peter Cathedral on Sunday from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. and are invited to mass immediately following.
Private burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery at a later date.
