Joseph Daniel Fickenworth, Jr., age 90, of Erie, passed away Friday, March 14, 2025. He was born in Erie, a son of the late Joseph & Mildred Ziacik Fickenworth, Sr. Joe was in the last graduating class of Millcreek High School 1953. Joe’s musical ear enabled him to play the guitar and keyboard and landed him a Sonarman position on the USS Stoddard DD566 until 1957.
Joe worked as a pickler for Ervite Corporation, then in janitorial/maintenance for Millcreek Township, the Erie Maennerchor Club and St. Andrews Church. Joe liked riding his four-wheeler and camping, spending 25 years at Brokenstraw Campground with his wife Carol. They will be fondly remembered for their July 4th anniversary picnics while living in Millcreek, Girard and Lake City.
In addition to his parents, Joe is preceded in death by his wife Carol Drozeski, brothers: John, Harry, Daniel, Donald and infant Fickenworth, and Henry Kutterna, sisters: Mildred Gunther, Suzanne Woodley Ames, Dorothy Chapman, Dorothy McKierran and Mary Richardson.
Joe is survived by his brothers; Raymond & William Fickenworth of Erie, his daughter Lisa (Salvatore) Piazza, grandson Joseph (Erica) Lewandowski, granddaughter Amanda (Garrett) Bireline, bonus granddaughter Alaina Piazza, greatgrandchildren Joseph and Beau Lewandowski and Rodney, and EllieMae, many sister and brother in laws, nieces and nephews.
