Joseph Earl Evans, age 66, of Erie, passed away on Sunday June 14th, 2015 at Sarah Reed Retirement Center, after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Erie on February 17, 1949 a son of the late L.C. and Shirley Watford.
Joseph who was known to family and friends as “Butch,” attended East High School where he graduated in 1966. He enlisted in the Army National Guard for 10 years, where he received an Honorable Discharge.
Butch worked at Kaiser Aluminum for five years and J.T.M. Foods for 17 years from where he retired in 2011.
He enjoyed fishing, playing his video games and being with his family.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife of 35 years, Barbara McLendon Evans, four children, Joseph Evans, Michelle Hasberry, Brooke Martin and Kimberly Evans; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, two brothers, Donald Watford (wife Tina) of San Antonio, TX, and Richard Watford of Erie, an Uncle, Louis Watford of Cleveland, OH, two aunts, Mary Evans of Erie and Winter Drew of Detroit, MI, a sister-in-law, Liz Ann Watford of Erie and a long list of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Louis Watford and James Watford.
Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 602 West Tenth Street, on Friday from 4 pm until the time of service there at 7 pm with Pastor Reverend D.F. Hunter officiating.
