Johnnie Mae Bennett Butts, age 73 of Erie, made her transition from life to reward on January 7, 2018. She was born in Erie on January 12, 1944, a daughter of the late John and Dollisker Saunders Bennett.
Johnnie Mae attended Harborcreek High School. She was a member of the Christian Ministries of the Apostolic Faith Church, where she served on many ministries.
She had many hobbies, one of which was a wedding planner, which she loved.
Johnnie Mae had various jobs in and outside of Erie. She had a huge heart and will be remembered for her countless acts of love and kindness.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one daughter, Sharese Butts, and one son, Randolph Butts, a granddaughter, Shalanda Butts, and one great granddaughter, Yoleena Hull.
She leaves to cherish her life, four sisters, Marie Lockett, Elousie McKenny, Shirley Johnson and Colleen (Bishop Gary) Brown; eight children; Yolanda (Floyd) Hull, Kimaco (Billy) Wilcher, Tracy (Elder Frank) Quinn, Spencer Butts, Zenobia Butts, Ali (Linda) Mems, Tanasha Mems and Demetris Mems; 46 grandchildren and 47 great grandchildren. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive.
She loved her family, but most importantly she loved the Lord.
Friends may call on Saturday, January 13th at the Christian Ministries of Apostolic Faith Church, 501 W. 31st. Street, Erie, PA 16508 from 10 am until the time of service at 11:30 am with Bishop Gary L. Brown officiating and Pastor Frank Quinn as the eulogist.
Burial will follow in Erie Cemetery. Arrangements are handled by Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 602 W. 10th St., Erie.
