John R. Swanson

John R. Swanson, age 74, passed away Wednesday,  May 8, 2024 at the Villa at the Lake in Conneaut, Ohio.  He was born April 5, 1950 in Erie, the son of the late Robert C. and Jeanne (Flaugh) Swanson.

Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife Patricia (Kondrat) Swanson.

John graduated from McDowell Class of 1968.  Worked for Frontier Lumber.  He served in the US Navy on board the USS Kitty Hawk off the shores of Vietnam.  Upon his return home he attended and graduated from Gannon University.  John worked in the finance department at Pleasant Ridge Manor and belonged  to several social clubs including the Albion Moose Lodge.  He attended and ushered at First Alliance Church.

John was a happy go lucky kind of guy and always had a joke or riddle to share.  He loved line dancing and working in the yard.  He had many dogs over his life time and each one held a special place in his heart.

John is survived by his sister, Kristin Swanson (Bill) and his dearest and closest of many years, Karol Devine and her family.

John was truly the definition of kindness: (noun) the quality of being friendly, generous and considerate.

Friends are invited to call at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, West Ridge, 3801 West 26th Street, Erie on Wednesday May 15, 2024 from 3:00 - 6:30 pm at which time funeral services will be held.  Private burial will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Villa at the Lake Activities Fund, 48 Parrish Road, Conneaut, Ohio. 44030
