John R. Sivillo, age 90, of Erie passed away Sunday, May 30, 2021 at St. Mary’s Home East. He was born August 24, 1930 in Erie the son of the late Clemente and Filomena Delzappo Sivillo.
John was a graduate of Strong Vincent High School and for 21 years he helped deliver bread for his father, Clemente Sivillo, who owned International Bakery until it was sold in 1960 to the Corsale family. John was known to the families of Little Italy as “The Bread Boy”. He was a prankster who loved spending time with family and friends.
John also served 8 years in the Navy Reserves and later became a City of Erie police officer, retiring in 1981 after 21 years of service. He later worked 11 years in security at the Erie Federal Courthouse. John was an avid Harley Davidson motorcycle owner and belonged to HOGS and the Blue Knights. He was also a member of FOP Lodge 7 and the American Legion. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time.
Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 49 years, Eleanor Giovanelli Sivillo who died in 2003; two daughters, Robin Sivillo and Natalie Sivillo Herrick; a brother Rocco Sivillo, and a sister, Antoinette Dalleo.
John is survived by a daughter, Daria Sivillo Walker and her husband Kennard; two grandchildren, Dale Herrick and his wife Anna and Robin White and her husband Nicholas,all of Erie. He is the great-grandfather of Danielle Lacey, Taylor Hannold, Skyler Britt, Jayden White and is the uncle of Carmen Dalleo and his wife Jacqueline.
John’s family would like to thank the staff at St. Mary’s East for the excellent care, love, and friendship they provided along with close family friend, Deborah Barney.
Friends are invited to call at the Quinn Funeral Home, West 9th & Liberty St. on Thursday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Further visiting Friday from 10:00 AM until time of Funeral Services at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
