John Shandorf

John J. Shandorf age 87 of Erie, died Thursday, November 6, 2014 at St. Vincent Health Center.

John was born in Fayette County, Pennsylvania on August 23, 1927. The son of the late Frank and Julia Collins Shandorf and the husband of the late Mary Viera Shandorf, John served in the US Army during World War Two and worked for many years with the John V. Schultz Company and American Tinning and Galvanizing.

John enjoyed antiques and collectibles and ran his own antique business until recently. You could always find him playing bingo throughout Erie. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by nine siblings.

He is survived by one sister Jeanne and her husband Junior of Everson, Pennsylvania; four sons; John M. Shandorf of Kennebunk, Maine, Dennis R. Shandorf of Vero Beach, Florida., Paul E. Shandorf and Patrick J. Shandorf both of Erie, Pennsylvania;. a daughter, Mary C. Shandorf also from Erie; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren.

Friends may call at Burton Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 602 West Tenth Street, Erie, Pa.16502 on Monday from 2:00 pm till 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm till 9:00 pm and are invited to services there on Tuesday at 11:00 am with Msgr. David E. McGraw officiating. Burial in Calvary Cemetery.
