John Sedgwick

April 23, 1947 — January 4, 2015

     John D. "Jack" Sedgwick, 67, of Erie, died Sunday, January 4, 2015, at UPMC Hamot.  Formerly of Orchard Park, NY, he was born April 23, 1947, in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, son of the late James and Margaret Lockhart Sedgwick.  A 1966 graduate of Orchard Park High School.  He worked for the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority in Buffalo, NY, for over 35 years.  Mr. Sedgwick was active with the Boy Scouts of America for fifty years serving as Scout Master of Troop 400 in Hamburg, NY where during his term the troop had over thirty boys attain the rank of Eagle Scout.  After moving to Erie he served as Advanced Chairman for Eagle Scouts for the French Creek Council, Boy Scouts of America.  He was a member of Luther Memorial Church, enjoyed boating and NASCAR, and was a big Erie Otters Hockey fan.
     Survivors include his wife, Christine A. Parsh Sedgwick; two daughters, Jacquelynne Sedgwick-Landry and partner Adrienne of Houston, TX and Jennifer Stelmack Fuller and husband Bradley of Pittsburgh, PA; a son, Joshua Stelmack and wife Amanda of Corry, PA; a sister, Peggy Sedgwick of Orchard Park, NY; five grandchildren, Savannah Sedgwick-Landry of Houston, TX, Annabelle Fuller of Pittsburgh, and Madeline and Grant Stelmack and Austin Nickerson, all of Corry; and two nephews.
     Friends may call at the Parlor of Luther Memorial Church, 225 W. 10th St., Friday from Noon to 2 p.m.  A service will be held in the sanctuary of the church Friday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. William Coleman and the Rev. Karen D. Parsh co-officiating.  Private inurnment in Luther Memorial Church Columbarium.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Scott Funeral Home, 2104 Myrtle Street. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Boy Scout Troop 400 of Hamburg, NY, c/o Sts. Peter & Paul Church, 66 East Main St., Hamburg, NY 14075; or to Boy Scouts of America, French Creek Council, 1815 Robinson Road West, Erie, PA 16509.
