John Ressler

John H. “Jack” Ressler age 76, of Fairview, passed away on Friday, August 26, 2016 at Fairview Manor.

He was born in Erie on March 29, 1940, a son of the late Howard E. and Viola Iwig Ressler.

Jack graduated from McDowell High School and served in the United States Navy.

He retired as a heavy equipment operator at National Fuel following many years of service and had also worked for Wegmans and Patterson Sterling Heating and A.C.

Jack was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where he loved to sing in the choir. He also sang in several barbershop choruses, including the Commodore Perry Chorus. He was also a member of several barbershop quartets, including Fortress Barbershop Quartet. He loved to work on cars and was a member of the Edsel Owners Club. Jack was a train buff and liked Art Deco diners and design. He was a member of the American Legion in Fairview, the Barbershop Harmony Society and gave to multiple charities.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Jane Vujasinovich and a brother in law, Robert Case.

He is survived by two daughters, Mary Elizabeth (Ressler) Cerveny and her husband John of Mount Airy, MD and Patricia Jean (Ressler) O’Quin of Stanford, KY; a sister, Elizabeth Anne Case; brother in law, Peter Vujasinovich; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Immanuel Lutheran Church 1002 Powell Ave, Erie, PA 16505. A reception at the church to greet the family will follow the service. Friends and family are welcome to say a few words during the service in remembrance of Jack.
