John Reigel

John E. Reigel, age 82, of Girard passed away Thursday May 17, 2018 at Manchester Commons.

He was born in Erie, on January 5, 1936, a son of the late Omer and Adeline (Heibel) Reigel.

John was a graduate of Cathedral Prep High School.  As a young man, he worked as a lineman for the electric company and he owned several auto car lots and was the original owner of Community Auto Recycling for many years.

He attended St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. John loved and owned thoroughbred race horses and also bred and raised Beagles.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by two sisters, Roberta Maher and Mary Preston.

John is survived by his wife of 45 years, Veronica; one son, Jeffrey Reigel and his fiancée Lynn Ross of Erie; three daughters, Kimberly Eliason and her husband Dan of Erie, Becky Russell and her husband Don of Erie, and Michelle Gardner and her husband Thomas of Girard; five grandchildren, Christian, Brianna, Benjamin, Angela, and Ricky; a sister, Regina Palmer of Ohio; and brother, Omer Reigel and his wife Sally of Erie, PA; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Burton’s Girard Funeral Home, 525 Main Street East on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm and are invited to a service there on Monday in the All Faith’s Chapel at  10 am with Fr. William Miller officiating.
