John E. Preisler age 81, who lived at 1114 Michigan Blvd, until his recent move to Sarah A. Reed Senior Living Center, passed away on Monday, October 3, 2016.
He was born in Erie on April 7, 1935, a son of the late John Preisler Sr. and Victoria Netkowicz Nelson.
John graduated from East High School and went on to enlist in the United States Army serving in Japan, before returning to lifelong employment in Erie.
He was a longtime member of St. Jude Parish. John had a wonderful sense of humor noted daily by his caretakers at Sarah Reed. He enjoyed bowling and loved his dog “Mickey”. He also adored, advocated and lovingly cared for his brother Chuckie.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James Preisler and Charles “Chuckie” Nelson Jr. and his stepfather, Charles “Red” Nelson Sr.
He is survived by two nephews, Donald and James Preisler and a special friend Colleen Hammon.
A special thank you to the caretakers at Sarah Reed who all looked after John with care and compassion.
Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 W. 26th Street (at Powell Ave) on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial at St. Jude the Apostle Church 2801 W. 6th Street, Erie, PA 16505 at 3:30 p.m. Burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery.
