John J. Miller Sr, age 65, passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, after a short illness at St. Vincent Hospital.
John was born on June 10, 1958, in Erie, to the late William H. and Eleanora Sandstrom Miller.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Margaret Miller; niece, Holly Banner and nephew, Joey Banner.
He leaves behind to cherish him in memory, his loving wife of 46 years, Lorrie Miller; two sons, John J. Miller Jr (wife Jennifer) and Christopher M. Miller; grandchildren, Tyler Ian, Madelyn Mae, Logan Chase, Grace Catherine and Cayden Christopher; siblings, Carol Malena (husband Bob), Nancy Sadler, Linda Banner (husband Tom), James Miller, William H. Miller Jr (wife Kathy) and Sandra Miller; several nieces and nephews and many cousins.
After graduating from Strong Vincent High School, John enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he was first in his class and promoted to PFC right out of bootcamp. He loved hunting, boating, fishing and swimming in the Bayfront and was proud to be called one of the “Bay Rats”. John worked at GE for 10 years and then Graphic Concepts for 30 years, retiring as Plant Manager. He and Lorrie cruised the world extensively. They traveled throughout Europe, the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans and he earned the title of Shellback on their trip to Australia. John loved the Cleveland Browns even when everyone would give up on them. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
