John Maughn

John Maughn, age 63, of Summit Township, passed away at his residence with his wife by his side on January 27, 2022.

He was born at Hamot Hospital, the son of Catherine M. (Dowd) Maughn.

John was a graduate of Tech Memorial and was employed at UPMC Hamot as Supervisor of Physical Therapy Technicians for 44 years.

He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church. As all of John’s family, friends, and co-workers will attest, John was a very caring and compassionate man of faith. The Boy Scout in him instilled his readiness to help those in need no matter what he was doing. John loved spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews. He loved photography and traveling with Kathy all over the country.

In addition to his mother, John is survived by his wife of 40 years Kathryn Ann (Lucas) Maughn, his sisters; Cathy McKenzie (Mike), Chris Seelinger, Karen Thaler (Greg), Patsy Maughn and Peggy Maughn, and his brothers; Bob Maughn and Don Maughn and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services West Ridge, 3801 W. 26th. Street, Erie, PA 16506 on Monday, January 31, 2022 from 3-7 pm and are invited to a prayer service there at 10:15 am followed by a mass of Christian Burial at Blessed Sacrament Church, 1626 W 26th St, Erie, PA 16508, on Tuesday February 1, 2022 at 11:00 am with the Rev. John Malthaner officiating.

Family requests that all CDC guidelines be followed, including wearing masks.

Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
