John "Jack" Shaffstall

February 10, 1944 — November 23, 2014

     John "Jack" Shaffstall, 70, died unexpectedly on Sunday, November 23, 2014, at his home in Erie.  He was born February 10, 1944, in Erie, son of the late Merritt and Leona Corry Shaffstall.  A lifelong resident of Erie, Jack graduated from Academy High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served during the Vietnam Era.  He worked for Krivonak Heating and Air Conditioning for 35 years and had also worked for General Electric.  He was a member of the Siebenburger Club. 
     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Leah Shaffstall; two brothers, Larry and James Shaffstall; and three sisters, Phyllis McClelland, Lucille Hughes and Joanne Lane.
     Survivors include his wife, Elaine M. Bettinger Shaffstall of Lincoln, NE; two sons, Joseph Shaffstall and wife Jennifer of Erie and James Shaffstall and wife Wendy of Cincinnati, OH; a daughter, Tina Shaffstall of Lincoln, NE; a brother, Richard Shaffstall of Erie; two sisters, Sally Berger of FL and Sandra Shaffstall of Pen Argyl, PA; six grandchildren, Derick, Edwin, Jacob, Jonathan and Jessica Shaffstall and Tristan MacDonald; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
     A memorial service will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church, 3952 Pine Ave., Saturday, January 10, 2015, at 3 p.m.  Jack's brother, Major Richard Shaffstall, will officiate.
