John Richard “Jack” Grabski age 76, of McKean, passed away Saturday, June 28, 2014 following a brief illness.
He was born in Detroit, MI on September 17, 1937, a son of George and Nellie Leput Grabski.
Jack graduated from Madison Memorial High School (Madison, OH) in 1955. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps upon his graduation and went on to obtain the rank of Corporal. He served both on active and reserve duty with the Marines.
Jack was a big man who lived a big life on his terms. His lifelong passion was horses and for a time he made a living with them, specifically American Quarter Horses. He later transitioned to raising beef cattle. He was truly a cowboy in every sense of the word.
In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his sister, Joni Bates and grandson, John R. Grabski, III.
Jack is survived by his wife, Susan Calderwood Grabski; his six children, John R. (Stacey) Grabski, II of New York, Kimberly (Ken) Beatty of Florida, Elizabeth (Eric) Garvin of Florida, Amy (Carl) Makarowski of New York, Jennifer Grabski-Marx of Texas, Josh Grabski of Erie; eleven grandchildren, Sachea Crowe, Ellie and Ben Grabski, Jill Post, Holly Kress, Nick Kolaja, Eric and Elliot Garvin, Hasmet and Juliet Eke, Isabelle Short; brother, James Grabski of Ohio; sister, Margie Shook of Ohio; eleven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
