John F. “Jack” Flanagan, age 82, passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at AHN St. Vincent.
He was born in Erie on May 7, 1942, the son of the late John James and Marian Stanley Flanagan of Erie. He was a 1960 graduate of McDowell High School and received his Associate’s Degree in electrical engineering from Penn State Behrend in 1963.
He was a member of the Lakewood United Methodist Church and the Siebenberger Club.
Jack served in the U.S. Navy from 1963 to 1965 on the USS Forrestal and the USS Monmouth County LST-1032 and received an Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal.
He work for General Telephone (GTE) for 22 years as an outside engineer, planner and supervisor.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Patty Palo.
Jack is survived by his wife, Janet M. Carr Flanagan; two sons, Terrance Flanagan (Alex) and Patrick Flanagan (Kim), and a daughter, Kristen Flanagan Leach (Jim); one sister, Judith Koehler of Erie and five grandchildren, Rachel Marie, Warren John, Samuel Patrick, Brynn Caroline, and Avery Grayce Flanagan.
Friends may call at the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, West Ridge 3801 W. 26th Street on Friday, December 13th from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to a service there on Saturday, December 14th at 11:00 a.m. Burial to follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Veterans Association of America and the American Cancer Society.
