John Finn

John Thomas Joseph “Jack” Finn, age 92, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on May 6, 2017.
He was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., on Oct. 26, 1924, and was the son of the late James F. and Julia M. Howard Finn.
Jack was preceded in death by his first wife, Leatrice Avie Finn; second wife, Jeanne Parker Finn; brothers, James F. Finn and William Donald Finn; and sister Lois A Roberts.
He is survived by his brother, Regis Finn and wife Renate of Maryland; sons, James Finn and wife Becky of Erie and John Finn and wife Jo Anne of Brownsville, Tenn.; daughter, Julia Arthurs and husband David of Erie; stepchildren, Julie Parker, John Parker and wife Christine and Jeffrey and wife Chris; grandchildren, Noreen Finn and husband Dana Atwood, Brooks Baucom, Tara Joyner and husband Regan, Kyleigh Arthurs, Taylor Arthurs, Jeffrey Parker, Jessie Parker and Joshua Parker; and great-grandchildren, Miller Baucom, Soren Atwood and Jase Joyner.
Jack served in the U.S. Army during World War II as part of the 86th Infantry Blackhawk Division in the European and Pacific theaters.
Upon his return, he attended the University of Pittsburgh and met his wife Leatrice, where he married and started his family. Soon thereafter, Jack began his career with Edwin L Wiegand Company, then relocated to Michigan, Maryland and finally to Erie where he was the President and Chief Executive Officer of Glenn Electric Heater Corporation.
Jack served as a board member of Union Bank and Trust continuing service with Mellon Bank. In addition, he served on the board of directors of the Erie Yacht Club and Erie YMCA. Jack was a member of the Kahkwa Club, Erie Yacht Club and Erie Maennerchor.
He was also an avid sailor, pilot and golfer.
Jack’s family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to his wonderful caregivers, Jeannie Espinosa, Aviana Wykoff, Gloria Rosario, Jessica Culpepper and Kim Smith.
Family and friends may call Tuesday, May 9th at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 7100 W. Ridge Rd., Fairview from 10:00 am until the time of a Funeral Mass at 12:00 noon with Father Thomas Tyler officiating. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the YMCA of Greater Erie, 31 West 10th St., Erie, PA 16501 or to the Nathanial Reyburn Sailing School, PO Box 648. Erie, PA 16512.
