John Carmody

June 2, 1941 — November 19, 2014

     John L. Carmody, age 73, of Girard, PA, died Wednesday, November 19, 2014, in Sumterville, FL, following a brief illness.    
     He was born June 2, 1941, in Conneaut, OH, son of the late John R. and Helen Myers Carmody.
     A 1959 graduate of Sheffield High School, Sheffield, PA, John studied Traffic and Transportation at Humboldt Institute in Minnesota and Industrial Processes at Penn State Behrend, Erie, PA.  He worked for General Electric in Erie and for Burlington Railroad in Chicago, IL.  He was co-owner and operator of Advanced Protection Services in Erie for 30 years retiring in 1997. 
     Following retirement, John and his wife Judy, with whom he recently celebrated 40 years of marriage, spent winters in Wildwood, FL.
     John enjoyed collecting and restoring antique automobiles.
     He was a member of Federated Church of East Springfield, East Springfield, PA, and was an active volunteer working with the Wattsburg Fire Dept., American Field Service, Rotary International, and L.O.V.E. Inc.
     Survivors include his wife, Judith Young Carmody; three sons, Jerry A. Carmody and wife Penny of Webster, FL, Jack F. Carmody and partner Don Pratt of Davenport, FL, and Joel L. Carmody and wife Jessica of Mount Hood Parkdale, OR; three granddaughters, Chelsey, Trinity and Leigha Carmody of Webster, FL; and three grandsons, Jarrod Carmody, Thomas Carmody, and John Carmody II of Webster, FL.
     Friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life Service in the Family Center of Federated Church of East Springfield, 11995 Main Street, East Springfield, PA, on Sunday, June 14, 2015 at 3 p.m.  Memorials may be made to WLD Ranch, 7351 Woolsey Rd., Girard, PA 16417.
