John Augustine

October 5, 1924 — June 18, 2012

John William Augustine Sr., age 87, of Millcreek, passed away Monday, June 18, 2012 at Presque Isle Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

He was born October 5, 1924, in Beech Bottom, West Virginia, the son of the late Paul Otto and Bessie Frederick Augustine.

He served in the US Navy during WWII in Fleet Air Wing 4 & 6 as a first class petty officer in aviation ordinance.

He was a graduate of Wellsbury High School in 1942 and attended the Art Institute of Pittsburgh.

He worked at the Mitchell and Knepper advertising agency then worked for 37 years as a supervisor of Graphic Arts at the Ervite Corp. and later went on to drive a school bus for Ryder Corporation for ten years until his retirement.

He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church , Perry Keystone Lodge, #392 F. & A. M., and the Scottish Right Bodies, Valley of Erie.

He was also a member of the Gold Wing Road Rider's Assoc.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Vaughn Augustine in 1998.

He is survived by his wife. Marjorie Kull Augustine, a daughter Kathryn Laino, New York City, two sons, John Augustine, Jr. and his wife Diane and Richard Scot Augustine, both of Erie; eight grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 W 26th Street (at Powell Ave) on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until the time of the Memorial Service at 7:00 p.m.

Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in Whispering Pines Cremation Garden.
