Jody Bowers

August 20, 1965 — December 16, 2021

Jody P. Bowers, age 56, of Cranesville, passed away Thursday, December 16, 2021 at UPMC Hamot.

He was born in Erie, PA on August 20, 1965, a son of Carol (Keith) Bowers of Girard and the late Gerald P. Bowers.

Jody graduated from Girard High School in 1983.  He worked construction for over 25 years with Building Systems Inc. His title was field foreman, but he was truthfully a jack of all trades. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching sports but his true passion was auto racing.  He created a family race team, Rocket Boy Racing, and truly enjoyed competing at the local tracks watching his son at the wheel.  Family meant everything to Jody.  He was a loving husband, a wonderful father who was a hero to his kids, and a good friend to all.  His rugged, no nonsense exterior could not hide the great heart he had inside and he will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege to have him in their lives.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ann and Manville Keith.

Jody is survived by his wife of 31 years, Melanie Bowers and his children, Brooke E. Bowers, Casey D. Bowers, Heather M. Bowers and Kyle T. Bowers; his brothers, John Bowers and Alan Bowers; his sisters, Sherri Scalise and Ashley Jenkins and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements entrusted to the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main St. East, Girard.

Memorials may be sent to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 1645 W. 8th Street, Erie, PA  16505.
