Joanne Blass

JoAnne Chetoni Henry Blass age 65, of Lake City, passed away Monday, May 20, 2013 at UPMC Hamot following a brief illness.

She was born in Erie on June 6, 1947, a daughter of the late Joseph O. and Annie M. Roth Chetoni.

JoAnne graduated from Strong Vincent High School and went on to receive her BA in Education at Villa College.

She worked as a school teacher at St. Peters Cathedral School for over 20 years.

JoAnne was a member the Episcopal Cathedral of St. Paul Church.

She was a member of Elks Lodge #67 B.P.O.E., Erie Mannerchor Club, and the Ladies Auxiliary there, and also a member of the Delta Sigma Sorority.

JoAnne loved giraffes, watching movies, shopping and spending time with her friends and family especially her daughter who she assisted her with animal transports, and working on her family genealogy. She enjoyed dining out, enjoying Erie's fine arts and listening to the music group Train.

She is survived by her husband Frederick "Rick" Blass; a daughter Jan Henry of Lake City; a granddaughter, Kelsey Berchtold; two brothers, Mark Chetoni and his wife Diane and Roger Chetoni and his wife Valarie all both of Fairview; a mother-in-law, Marjorie Blass and three nieces.

Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 W 26th Street (at Powell Ave) on Tuesday May 28th from 2-4 and 6 to 8pm and are invited to attend funeral services at the Episcopal Cathedral of St. Paul, 134 West 7th St. Erie on Wednesday May 29th at 10:30 am with the Very Rev. John P. Downey, Dean officiating. Burial in Erie Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
