Joan Ward Williams, age 94, of Erie, passed away on Sunday November 3, 2013. She was born in Truro, England on April 12, 1919, the daughter of Frank Carlton Ward and Rosa Jane Jillard Ward.
Joanie was an avid golfer and bridge player. She was an excellent athlete and enjoyed playing tennis. She was a member of the Kahkwa Club for over 50 years and a long-time member of the Cathedral of St. Paul.
In addition to her parents, Joanie was preceded in death by her husband James G. Williams, Jr.; a brother, Kenwyn Ward and a sister, Bette Burg. And, she died on the same day as her son-in-law, Roger Barlow.
She is survived by three daughters: Jill Barlow of Lake City, Judy W. George of Naples, FL, and Jan Fletcher and her husband Douglas of Dallas, TX; four grandchildren: Joel B. Wilson, Meredith Rath, Arwen Fletcher, and Douglas James Fletcher; and four great grandchildren.
All of Joan’s friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life in the Springhill Community Room, 2323 Edinboro Road, Erie, PA 16509 on Friday, November 15th at 3:30pm. Inurnment will be at the Cathedral of St. Paul Columbarium. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Springhill Benevolent Fund, 2323 Edinboro Road, Erie PA 16509.
