Joan Wienczkowski

Joan Marie (Davison) Wienczkowski age 80, of Fairview, passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Pleasant Ridge Manor.

Born in Townville, PA, on March 1, 1940, the daughter of the late Alva Davison and Mary K. (Katulich) Davison.

Joan graduated from Erie Technical High School in 1958 where she studied art, then continued her education at Edinboro University for two years.

Joan dedicated her life to her love of animals. She was the owner of The Canine Shop from 1968 to 1972.  She then built and operated Proud Land “The Pet Place” as a sole owner from 1972 until passing the business on to her daughter in 2013. Joan bred and raised Bichon Frise, Golden Retrievers, and Himalayan cats and also showed Bichon Frise and her Standard Poodle, Buka in numerous dog shows. She also had a love for her thirteen miniature horses.

She is survived by her daughter Carrie Behnke and husband Ken; two granddaughters, Ashley Stafford and her husband Andy, and Courtney Behnke; and 4 great grandchildren, Averie, Brewer, Izabella and Chase.

The family would like to say thank you to the entire staff at Pleasant Ridge Manor for the excellent care and support they gave to Joan.

Services were held private at the convenience of the family and are under the care of the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, West Ridge 3801 W. 26^th Street, Erie, PA 16506.
