Joan Lukehart White, age 83, of Erie, died on Monday, October 17, 2016, at St. Vincent Hospital. Joan was born in Erie, on September 21, 1933, daughter of the late Fred and Claire Leonard Lukehart and the granddaughter of the late Luella and Frank Lukehart who raised her. A lifelong resident of Erie, she graduated from Strong Vincent High School in 1951. Joan was a member of St. Peter Cathedral, where she worked as a volunteer for many years and belonged to Cathedral Women's Council. She volunteered at St. Peter Cathedral School where her sons attended, and along with her husband, was a founding member of C.A.P.E. (Cathedral Association of Parents and Educators).
Her husband of 58 years, Robert E. White, preceded her in death in 2009. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Lukehart.
Survivors include five sons, Robert E. White and wife Jeannie of Lynchburg, Va.., Jeffrey A. White and wife Sharon and Douglas K. White and wife Kelly, all of Erie, David S. White and wife Kara of Mt. Lebanon, Pa., and John M. White and wife Jenifer of Arlington, Va.; a brother, the Rev. Frederick Lukehart of Hubbard, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Brian, Stephen (Danielle), Sara, Robert, Calli, Samuel, Olivia and Allison White; two great-grandchildren, Jackson and Hadley White of Erie; a niece, Julie Uhlman; a nephew, Robert Uhlman; and several Cousins.
Friends may call at the Scott Funeral Home, 2104 Myrtle Street, Thursday from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. A Prayer Service will be held at the funeral home Friday at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Peter Cathedral celebrated by the Rev. Michael P. Ferrick and by Joan's brother, the Rev. Frederick Lukehart. Private interment will be at Mary, Queen of Peace Cemetery.
