Joan Rupp

Joan Louise (Arusiewicz) Rupp, 84, of Erie, was surrounded by family as she went to be with the Lord on December 28, 2016.  She was born in Erie on October, 18, 1932.  After graduating from Villa Maria Academy, Joan worked for GTE for over 20 years and was a longtime member of St. Andrew Catholic Church.

Joan was a devoted mother to her seven children and her wit and humor were a source of continual joy to all who knew her.  Joan loved animals, plants, flowers, the outdoors, but most especially trips to Presque Isle State Park with her children and grandchildren.  She was an avid reader who loved cooking, being with those she loved, and shopping for them.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Stella (Paczynski)  Arusiewicz and her brother, Leo Arusiewicz.  

Joan is survived by her seven children; Denise M. French of San Antonio,TX;  Janet R. Steenberge (Patrick) of Granbury, TX;  Donna R. Mitchell (Gregory) of Germantown, TN; James D. Rupp of Oakland Park, FL; Donald R. Rupp, Jr. of Erie;  John A. Rupp (Kelly) of San Diego, CA; and Diane E. Rupp of Ft. Worth, TX.  She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, Justin and Jacob French, Georgia, Brier and Xela Steenberge, Matthew, David and Patrick Mitchell, Noah and Chloe Rupp, Stephanie Rupp, Nikk Wolf, Gabriel Nichols. Also surviving is her former spouse, Donald R. Rupp of San Antonio, TX

Friends and family may call at John J. Quinn Funeral Home, 728 West 9th St., Erie ,PA  on Monday from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM and are invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Tuesday at 10:00 AM in St. Andrew Catholic Church. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Andrew Catholic Church, 1116 W. 7th St., Erie, PA 16502 or St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105.
