Joan Jersey

Joan Dolores Alamenciak Jersey, age 81, of Erie, passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2015 at Fairview Manor. She was born in Erie on May 4, 1934 to the late Andrew and Victoria (Zielienewski) Alamenciak.

She was a 1952 graduate of St. Benedict Academy. She worked as a Secretary to the President of the former Boston Store for many years and then at Uniflow Manufacturing and finally at AMSCO/Steris Corporation until she retired. She loved spending time with her family, who were her greatest joy.

In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her sister, Irene Hansen.

She is survived by two daughters: Debora Wilson and Janet (Ronnie) Tankersley; seven grandchildren: Julie (Marcio) Silva, Robert (Paula) Wilson, Jr., Victoria (Jose) Padin, David (Molly) Wilson, Erica Tankersley, Jessica (Jack) Bajek and Vahnell Tankersley; twelve great-grandchildren: Marcio and Elena Silva, Michael and Andrew Wilson, Josephine and Vivienne Padin, Charlotte and Madeleine Wilson, Alexis Tankersley, Olivia, Noah and Gavin Bajek; two nieces: Susan Hansen and Judith (Christopher) Bosner and one grandniece, Katherine Bosner.

Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 602 West Tenth Street, on Wednesday from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. and are invited to attend a prayer service there on Thursday at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Jude the Apostle Church, 2801 West 6th Street, at 9:30 am. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
