Jimmy L. Lomax, age 80, of Erie, died at his residence Wednesday, May 27, 2015. Born in Meadville, PA on April 14, 1935 he was the son of Minnie Hunter and Robert W. Lomax.
Jimmy was a veteran of the United States Navy; a member of the United Steelworkers of America and had worked for Parker White Metal and Ben Fresch Auto. He was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church; American Legion Perry Memorial Post 700; he was an approved umpire with the Amateur Softball Association; he was a member of the United States Bowling Congress, the National Bowling Association, the American Bowling Congress and the “700” Bowling Club, Erie Chapter.
In addition to his parents Jimmy was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Earleen on February 22, 2015; they were together for over 50 years; his brothers, Richard, Eddie and Robert Lomax and his sisters, Jeannette and Elsie Lomax.
He is survived by four sons, Kenny Brewton (Tina), Tony Johnson, Ronny Lomax and Jimmy E. Johnson (Darla); four daughters, Emily Johnson, Darlean (Momma Dar) Young, Valerie Johnson and Dawn M. Johnson; and Joe Lomax and his wife Merlene and Eugene and Rufus Lomax. He is further survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at Morningstar Baptist Church 327 East 23rd Street on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the time of services at 1 p.m. with the Reverend Amos Goodwine eulogizing and the Reverend D.F. Hunter officiating.
Burial will be private.
