Jimmie Mcintosh

Jimmie “Crawford” McIntosh left this world for the other side of glory on Monday, Feb 8th 2021. Jimmie was the fifth child of 10 born to the late Virgil “Deg” McIntosh and Alma Neely McIntosh on August 9th, 1930 in DeKalb Mississippi.

Jimmie preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Mary Francis “Frankie” Gambill McIntosh, brothers Henry B. Johnnie C., Virgil Sr, Sherrell McIntosh and sisters, Irene Edwards and Birdie M. Johnson.

Jimmie is survived by his brothers Charlie L. McIntosh, St. Louis, Illinois; Shumphert (Ruth) McIntosh, Erie, Pennsylvania; Willie (Joyce) McIntosh, DeKalb, Mississippi; sister Minnie Jewel Love, Baltimore Maryland, a son, Walter (Cherry) McIntosh, daughters, Cathryn (Terry) Childress, Terri (Lionel) Whitehead, grandchildren, Roslyn, Justin (Brenda), Jessica, Debra, Andrea, Janelle, Leesa, Jo’Quan, Nehemiah “Nemo” McIntosh, Erica and Lea Whitehead. Great-Grandchildren Calvrian, Anthoni, Stephen Jr., Alisana, Pantera and Lincoln and godson, Stephen “Shannon” Pullium. Jimmie is also survived by a host of extended family, including the Gambill/Gamble and Rush families.

Jimmie joined the United States Army where he proudly served in the Korean War. After his service he settled in Erie, where he met and married “Frankie” and started a family, found his church home. In the early years he attended Second Baptist Church, then later joined, St. James AME Church, following the migration with his well-respected father-in-law Samuel Paul Gambill. He served on the Trustee Board and sang in the choir.

Jimmie working for General Electric, Hammermill Paper Company. He later worked and retired from the Erie Metropolitan Transit Authority (E.M.T.A) where he served at President of the Local Union.

Jimmie was a proud member of Bay City Masonic Lodge #68, F. & A.M., Prince Hall Affiliated, achieving his 32nd Degree. He was a founding member and served as President of the “Moonlighters’ social organization, which provided scholarship funds for college bound Erie Youth. He enjoyed watching baseball with his cousin, William “Uncle Bill” Welch, playing cards and working in his garden.

Friends may call at the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, Inc., Wintergreen, 2532 Norcross Road, on Monday, February 15, 2021 from 11 am until the time of service there at 1 p.m. with Pastor D.F. Hunter and Pastor Madonna Gray co-officiating. The service will be livestreamed on our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/BurtonQuinnScott. All CDC guidelines including wearing masks, social distancing and capacity limits will be followed.
Burial with full military honors will be in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
