Jill M. (Figurski) Bengel

Jill M. (Figurski) Bengel, age 72, of Erie passed away Wednesday November 29, 2023 at home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on August 9, 1951 in Erie the daughter of the late Stan and Marie (Youngbauer) Figurski.

A lifelong resident of Erie, Jill received her Masters degree from Edinboro University and was retired as a teacher with the North East school district. Jill was deeply rooted in her faith. She enjoyed reading, baking, and taking walks with her loving husband, Bill, and their dog, Fiona. She enjoyed spending time with her family and most importantly making memories with her grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers; Robert (Bob) Figurski and Stan Figurski Jr., and a brother-in-law, William Bell.

Jill is survived by her husband, William J. Bengel along with three sons; Matthew J. Bengel, Joshua J. Bengel and his wife Karen, and Eric J. Bengel and his wife Courtney, all of Erie.

She is also survived by three sisters; Debby Figurski and her partner Toni Eccher of Eugene OR, Marty Lindquist and her husband Mike, and Carla Bell along with 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Per her wishes, there will be no visitation and a private Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Catholic church will be held for family and close friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Benedictine Sisters of Erie.
