Jesus Rogaciano Contreras, age 69, of Erie, passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2020, with his youngest daughter by his side, at UPMC Presbyterian hospital of Pittsburgh. He was born in Zacatecas, Sombrerete Mexico, one of the ten children of Jose Contreras and Rafaela Alvarado.
Rogaciano began working at a young age in the coal mines in Mexico to support his family. He later moved to the United States 32 years ago, where worked in many fields until his health restricted him.
He was a family man through and through. He was a wise man always offering words of encouraging advice to his family and friends. He loved to read and was hard working all his life. He also enjoyed watching soccer with his sons and grandson. He attended the Spanish congregation of the Jehovah Witnesses.
In addition to his parents, he preceded in death by his brother Jose Contreras.
He’s survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Marta Hernandez; his seven children Aaron, Jesus, Gustavo, Betty (Adam), Silvia, Hugo (Michelle), Griscell (Dloren) Contreras and Sixteen grandchildren Isabel Contreras, Cristal Contreras, Cesar Contreras, Miguel Garcia, Roger Flores, Brian Contreras, Gabriel Flores, Hugo Contreras Jr., Maricella Garcia, Nieva Contreras, Heaven Gulledge, Dloren Gulledge Jr, Victor Contreras, Giselle Gulledge, Grace Castillo, and Bella Contreras; and six great grandchildren. He is further survived by five sisters and three brothers.
