Jessie Carmelita Dobbs, age 76 of Erie, died Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at St. Mary's East.
She was born in Washington, PA on November 15, 1935, the daughter of the late Clifton and Jenetta Eubanks Dobbs, Sr.
She was a graduate of Gannon University, and was a teacher in the Erie School District for 35 years.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and was a member of the PSEA, NEA, AARP, and also did volunteer work.
In addition to her parents, Jessie was preceded in death by a son David Chandler, a daughter Carolyn Chandler, brothers; Dalhart Dobbs and Gaylord Dobbs (Magdeline) as well as two sisters: Ida Janet Scott and Rose Dobbs.
She is survived by two sons: William E. Chandler, Jr., wife Paula, Washington, PA, and Roland Chandler, wife Melody of Erie; three daughters: Cindy Davis, Teresa Chatman, husband John, and Rose Glover, husband Richard all from Erie; two brothers: Clifton Dobbs (Jenny), and Vernon Dobbs of Erie. She is further survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 602 West 10th Street Erie, Pa., 16502 on Friday from 2:00 till 4:00 pm and 7:00 till 9:00 pm and are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial Saturday at 10:00 am at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church with Reverend James Gutting presiding.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
