Jesse “Jay” Ferraro, age 80, of Erie, passed away at his son’s residence on Thursday, August 10, 2023.
Jesse was born in Chicago, Illinois, on April 14, 1943, a son of the late James and Maria Presogna Ferraro.
He was a graduate of the former Strong Vincent High School in 1962.
He served his country as a U.S. Marine with the 1st and 3rd Marine Assault Divisions in the Vietnam War from 1963 through 1967, serving in Vietnam and Santo Domingo.
He taught piano and organ for many years in the Erie Area.
Jesse was an active member of Our Lady of Peace Church and a 4th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus. He was active in fraternal groups and treasured the friends and fellowship in various groups as a 33 Degree Mason with Lawrence Lodge, Scottish Rite Valley of Erie, and Zem Zem Temple Shrine. Jesse was devoted to everything he did, and his family meant the world to him. He was a loving husband, father, papa, brother, and friend.
One of his greatest joys was his grandchildren, Michael and Theresa, and the many pets he loved very much.
He also treasured The Rosary Group and Daily Mass at Our Lady of Peace Church.
In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his wife Marilyn Schmitz Ferraro, whom he married on February 26, 1966, his best friend forever, and his brother and sister in infancy, Joseph and Judy.
He is survived by beloved son and daughter-in-law, Corey and Julie; two grandchildren, Michael and Theresa; a brother Frank Ferraro and his wife Debbie; a brother-in-law Tom Schmitz and wife Sally; sister-in-law Kay Hido; and brother-in-law Sonny LaPrice along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Friends may call at the Burton Quinn Scott, Cremation and Funeral Service at West Ridge, 3801 West 26th St. Erie, on Monday, August 14, 2023, from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm, a masonic service will be held at 6 pm, and are invited to a prayer service there on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at 12:45 pm followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Peace Church, 2401 W 38th St, Erie, PA 16506, at 1:30 pm with Fr. Rich Toohey celebrant.
Burial in Erie County Memorial Gardens.
