Jennifer Singer

February 16, 1973 — September 20, 2013

Jennifer Robin Singer, age 40, of West Falmouth, MA, died on Friday, September 20, 2013. She was born in Jersey City, NJ on February 16, 1973, the daughter of Barbara Small Singer and the late Gerald L. Singer.

Jenny graduated from Mercyhurst Preparatory School in Erie and Bennington College in Bennington, VT. She attended Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY for graduate studies in industrial design.

After graduating from Bennington, she worked at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC. Jenny later lived in New York City where she was an industrial lighting consultant for special events such as the 2000 Sydney Olympics, multiple projects for George Soros and for acclaimed cinematographers Albert and David Maysles. She moved to Cape Cod in 2002 and had been working as a health aide for private clients. Jenny was also an active volunteer for Recovery Without Walls, a charity helping women rebuild their lives following substance abuse treatment, where she assisted with computer system development and fundraising.

Jenny was a member of Temple Anshe Hesed, was an artist, and enjoyed all things whimsical, finding particular joy in giraffes, monkeys and cats. Her happiest memories were of caring for her much loved nephew Asher and creating “high jinx” with her “BFFL” Debbie. Jenny was beloved and admired by her many friends as a warm, kind and compassionate person whose bright mind always made them smile and laugh.

In addition to her mother, survivors include her brother Geoffrey L. Singer, M.D., Kedra Wills, and their son Asher Gerald Singer, all of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, her Cape Cod family, Debbie, Bill, Brady and Libby Dougherty, and “Dexter”, her beloved cat.

Donations in her memory may be made to: Temple Anshe Hesed 930 Liberty Street, Erie, PA 16502; Stairways 2158 West 8th Street, Erie, PA 16505; Recovery Without Walls, PO Box 591, West Falmouth, MA 02574; or to People for Cats, PO Box 422, West Falmouth, MA 02574.

Friends may call at Temple Anshe Hesed, 930 Liberty Street, on Sunday from 11:30 until time of service at 1 p.m. with Rabbi John Bush officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery.

There will be a Celebration of Jenny’s Life to be held in Falmouth, Massachusetts at a date to be announced.
