Jeanne Ward

Jeanne Seltzer Ward, age 88, of Fairview passed away on Friday, June 1, 2018.  She was born in Lebanon, PA on September 21, 1929, daughter of the late George E. “Papa Doc” and Edith Snyder Seltzer.

A 1947 graduate of Lebanon High School, Jeanne went on to graduate from the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing in 1950.  Jeanne worked as a Registered Nurse for many years at both the University of Pennsylvania Hospital and the Cleveland Clinic.

She was a member of Wayside Presbyterian Church, the Kahkwa Club, Lake Shore Country Club, the Erie Club, the Lake Shore Garden Club and the Junior League of Erie.  She enjoyed playing bridge with her “bridge girls” and playing pinochle with friends.  She loved gardening and drawing and was passionate about art. Jeanne was a kind, thoughtful person and always put others first.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Richard and her husband, Edgar H. Ward., M.D. whom she married on June 16, 1951.

Jeanne is survived by her daughter, Barbara Ann Bowers and husband, Randy of Erie; her son John C. Ward and wife, Jennifer of Cleveland, OH; and her grandchildren:  Michael Ward NIebauer; Morgan Jeanne Ward; Macey Marie Ward and Vincent Edgar Ward and many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff of AseraCare Hospice Erie and Manchester Commons.

Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26^th Street, (at Powell Avenue,) on Monday June 4^th from 4 – 6pm and are invited to attend services there on Tuesday June 5^th at 10am with Chaplain Jonathan Curtiss officiating.  Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
