Jeanne Gillespie

Jeanne M. Flick Gillespie, age 88, of Erie, passed away on August 24, 2018 at Independence Court.

She was born on May 21, 1930, a daughter of the late Henry J. and Frieda Heinritz Flick.

Jeanne was a 1947 graduate of Millcreek High School. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.  Jeanne worked as a Service Representative GTE in Erie and than transferred to GTE in Florida, where she retired from after 27 years of service. 

Jeanne loved her children and nothing brought a smile to her face quicker than her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed golfing and even achieved a hole-in-one at Magnolia Valley in 1991. She played mah-jongg avidly and volunteered several years in the St. Vincent auxiliary. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Todd Gillespie Jr., in 2002. 

Jeanne is survived by her daughter, Brynn A. Zebrak (David), and her son, Todd A. Gillespie (Vera); four grandsons, Anthony Gillespie (Brittany), Jeffery and Paul Fries and Dalton Zebrak (Ashley); four granddaughters, Carolyn Hale (Jesse), Emily Fries, Kalyn Zebrak and Natalie Hamel; along with eight great grandchildren, Ava, Addison, Matthew, Savannah, Colt, Aydon, Addelyn and Blakely. 

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Millcreek Community Church, 4444 Sterrettania Rd., Erie.  Arrangements are entrusted to Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 602 West 10^th Street, Erie.
