Jeanne Farrell Parker Finn, age 84, of Erie and The Landings, Savannah, GA, passed away Sunday, January 11, 2015 at her residence surrounded by her family.
She was born in Erie, on April 10, 1930, the daughter of the late John J. and Mary Eichenlaub Farrell.
Jeanne attended St. Anne’s Elementary School, Villa Maria Academy and received her degree from Mercyhurst College. Following graduation she taught school in the Erie school system at Lincoln Elementary, and Strong Vincent High School, until she became a homemaker. She was a member of Holy Cross Church, Carrie T. Watson Garden Club, Women’s Club of Erie and Hamot Aid Society. Jeanne volunteered at the American Red Cross and mother of the year for March of Dimes. She was an avid gardener and loved needlework. Golfing was a passion, enjoyed with friends at Kahkwa Club and at her vacation home at The Landings, Savannah, GA. She traveled extensively, both in the the U.S and abroad.
In 1955, Jeanne married Robert W. Parker who had five children from a previous marriage. She had three more children with Robert. After his death, she married John J. Finn in 1994 at Clifden by the Sea, County Gallway, Ireland.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert W. Parker, Sr., two step sons; W. Thomas Parker and Attorney Robert W. Parker Jr., and brother, David J. Farrell.
Jeanne loved her extended family as well as her own. She is survived by her husband John “Jack” Finn of Erie; daughter, Julie W. Parker; two sons: John Allen Parker and his wife Christine and Jeffrey C. Parker and his wife Christina; a sister, Ruth F. Gradler; a brother, Robert P. Farrell and his wife Wendy; as well as many nieces and nephews. She is further survived her step children, Carolyn P. Patton, Roberta P. Holliday, Mary Dee P. Robertson, Julie F. Arthurs and her husband David, James R. Finn and his wife Rebecca and John J. Finn, Jr. and his wife JoAnn; twenty nine grandchildren and forty great grandchildren.
Friends may call Wednesday, at Holy Cross Church, 7100 West Ridge Rd., Fairview from 11 am until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at Noon with Reverend Thomas Tyler Celebrant. Interment will be private at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main St. East, in Girard.
