World War 2 veteran Jeanette E. (Solberg) Swanson, after 100 years and 8 months, left her earthly home on November 26, 2024 surrounded by her loved ones. She was the daughter of the late Rose (Dlask) and Harry Solberg of Mauston, Wisconsin.

She was born on March 27th 1924 in New Lisbon, Wisconsin. After graduating from Mauston High School in 1942, she moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin and was an office employee at the Robert A. Johnston Cookie and Candy Company. Later she enlisted in the Women’s Army Corp. and became a medical technician at Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul, IL. She was honorably discharged after her service and moved back to Milwaukee, Wisconsin where she met and married her late husband, Donald Albin Swanson on March 14th, 1953.

Their living children are Jon H. Swanson and wife Connie of Winter Garden FL, James D. Swanson of Columbus, Ohio, Lori E. Swanson Nemenz of Erie, PA; step-granddaughter Carla Matteo, and her sons Dominic and Anthony Matteo of Erie PA. She’s further survived by many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were sisters, Esther Reisenauer (Ralph), Violet V. Dooley (James), Grace Sheridan (Harold); brothers Everett, Kenneth (Florence), and Bernard (Nancy) and son-in-law, Larry Nemenz.

She enjoyed her piano, reading books, Bible classes, bocce games, and crossword puzzles. Memorial donations can be made to a charity of your choice.

A funeral service and celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
