Jean R. Zeigler age 88, of Millcreek, passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2021 at St. Vincent Hospital.
She was born in Erie on June 15, 1933 a daughter of the late Howard Clifford and Rae Mitchell Sponsler.
Jean was a 1951 graduate of Academy High School and went on to work as a teacher’s aide for over 25 years at Lakewood and Vernondale schools.
She was a lifelong member of Glenwood United Methodist Church where she had sung in the choir for 84 years.
Jean enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking, camping and bird watching. Her family was her everything and they were always welcome.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Patty Anderson and two half-sisters, Marilyn McGraw and Sandy and a half-brother Ed Mitchell.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Elmer L. Zeigler; her children, Howard “Chip” Zeigler and his wife Vickie of Albion, PA, Susan Enstrom and her husband David of Erie, Sharon Arnold of Erie, Karen Zeigler of Erie and Bradley Zeigler and his wife Kimberly of Waterford, PA; two sisters, Nancy Biscotti of Conneaut, OH and Kathy Perkins of Erie; 18 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Service 3801 W 26th Street, on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and are invited to attend a service on Thursday at Glenwood United Methodist Church 2931 Myrtle Street, Erie, PA 16508 at 10:00 a.m. Private burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
