Jean Sama

Jean Pauline Sama, age 74, of Maryland and formerly of 825 East Grandview Boulevard, Erie, died on Monday, December 3, 2012 at Bowie, Maryland.

Born in Erie on September 23, 1939 she was the daughter of the late Leroy and Thelma Pauline Bagley Franklin Sr.

Jean was a graduate of Academy High School and Erie Business Center and attended Edinboro University; she was a Prayer Warrior and loved the Lord and was a member of Grace Fellowship Church; and enjoyed reading, cooking, and talking.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Humburto Sama and a brother, Richard Franklin.

Survivors include her son, Jose Sama, of New Carrollton, MD, a brother, Leroy Franklin Jr. and his wife Annette of Erie, a niece, Carla Carter and her husband George of Sugarland, TX, four nephews, Elliott Franklin, of Erie and Phillip Franklin, of Pittsburgh, Steven Holliday, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fl and Morris Price, of Erie. She is further survived by four great nephews, six great nieces, many cousins and two aunts, Vera Bagley, of Erie and Jonetta Franklin, of Hartford, CT.

Friends may call at Burton Wintergreen Funeral Home, 2532 Norcross Road Sunday from 4 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend services there on Monday at 11 a.m. with the Reverend John Bowers officiating.

Burial will be in Erie Cemetery.
