Jean Fiesler Sabol

Jean Fiesler Sabol, daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandma, great grandma, boss and matriarch, age 97, of Girard, passed away on Thursday June 13, 2024, at St. Vincent Hospital. 

She was born in Millcreek Township on August 16, 1926, the daughter of the late Samuel Morton and Ruth Leube Fiesler.

Jean married Frank Sabol on December 9, 1950, together they owned the family business, Sabol Trucking in Girard. She was the bookkeeper and managed the trucking paperwork for over 70 years. She loved simple things, from the birds and beautiful blooming buds and flowers outside to throwing balls and treats to her fluffy furball companion Sparky. She loved reading cookbooks, the way people read chapter books, sharing recipes, going for rides around town, going out to eat, making sure the boys were driving safely with their loads, reading and sorting through mail. She held the family business together till her last days. It was what she lived for and what helped establish a legacy many people only dreamed of having.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Frank; her sons, Sam and Jospeh Sabol; daughter-in-law, Becky Sabol; brother, Sam Fiesler; and sister, Jane Gresh.

She is survived by her son; Frank “Frankie” Sabol; daughter, Diann Jean Sabol; her faithful dog, Sparky; daughter in law, Nancy Bendure Sabol; grandchildren: Rachael (Jason), Nanci, Franko, Shelby Jean and Peyton; great grandchildren, Chloe, Lauren, Madison, Autumn, Lily, Tristian, and Brock; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main Street East in Girard on Monday from 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11am. Burial will follow at Platea Cemetery.
