Jean Petroff age 74, passed away at her home in Millcreek and went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 3, 2022.
She was born in Cleveland, Ohio on November 27, 1947 a daughter of the late Andrew and Violet Stankiezwicz Hudack.
Jean graduated from Jane Adams High School in Cleveland.
She worked as a Murphy’s Department Store Girl, also as a Nurse’s Aide at Battersby Nursing Home, and was a CNA at the Erie VA Medical Center for the majority of her career, working primarily on the Nursing Home Care Unit. She loved taking care of the elderly and children.
Jean was the most loving, caring and thoughtful mother and grandmother. Her son, Mark, was her pride and joy. She was so proud of her only granddaughter, Amanda, and loved spending “girl time” with her daughter-in-law, Amy. She always enjoyed getting together with her family, her best friend Theresa, and was very close to her sister, Andrea. She enjoyed dancing to Polka music and attending Zabawa every year. Her favorite musical artists included Elvis, Patsy Cline, Teresa Brewer and Loretta Lynn. She adored her grandcat, Caviar. She was an excellent cook and story teller. Making Haluski was her favorite. She cherished her time cooking for the Priests at St. Mark’s Seminary.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Fran Wilson and Mary Ann Williams and her best friend, Theresa Bogdanski.
She is survived by a son, Mark Petroff, Jr. and his wife Amy; her beloved granddaughter, Amanda Petroff; her ex-husband, Mark Petroff, Sr.; three sisters, Andrea Straub, Annette Bellomo (Joe) and Elaine (Donnie) Wilson; a niece, Karen (Rob) Sheldon, two nephews, Tom and Jeff Nowling and one niece, Charlene D’Onofrio.
Jean was strong in her Catholic faith. She prayed daily and loved attending church on Sundays. She will be greatly missed.
Friends and family may call at the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, 3801 W. 26th Street on Monday, May 9th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and are invited to attend a funeral Mass on Tuesday, May 10th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Jude the Apostle Church, 2801 W. 6th Street, Erie, PA 16505.
Jean loved children and animals, so in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to Orphan Angels Cat Sanctuary and Adoption Center, 5439 W. Lake Rd, Erie, PA 16505.
