Jean M. McDonald Olson, 89, of Erie, passed quietly on Thurs., Jan. 5, 2012 at Golden Living Center - Walnut Creek. She was born Aug. 14, 1922 in Erie, daughter of the late Roy T. and Margaret M. Bradford McDonald. A lifelong resident of the Erie area, she graduated in 1941 from Strong Vincent High School and worked as a stenographer for Hammermill Paper Co. for 35 years retiring in 1986. Jean was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ and the Erie Philharmonic Chorus, and was an avid reader.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Richard E. Olson in 2000; a brother, Roy E. McDonald; and a sister, Mary McDonald Donnelly.
Jean is survived by a brother, Charles McDonald of Erie and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Friends may call at the Scott Funeral Home, 2104 Myrtle Street, Monday from 2 p.m. until the time of service there at 5 p.m. Pastor Emeritus Carl R. Hull of St. Paul's United Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Section 14 in Erie Cemetery. The family requests memorials be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 1645 W. 8th St., Erie, PA 16505; or to St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 1024 Peach St., Erie, PA 16501.
