Jean L. (Felix) O’Hara passed away peacefully on Friday, August 26,2016 at age 94. Jean was born on January 14, 1922 in McKean, Pa. She was the daughter of the late Margaret Bayer Felix and Bernhard Felix and had nine siblings. Jean had fond memories of growing up on a farm and enjoyed sharing stories of the antics her siblings would get involved in, especially her and her brother, Joe.
Jean graduated from McKean High School in 1940 where she enjoyed playing basketball and spending time with good friends. She worked for a time at Continental Rubber and at Bliley Electric after graduation. In 1945 she was married to her husband of 65 years, Richard “Dick” O’Hara who passed away in 2010. They build a home together in Millcreek where she remained for 71 years. They were founding members of St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church and could be found sitting with friends in the same pew at the early morning mass every Sunday.
Jean loved to garden, bird-watch, and visit with family and friends. She had a special devotion to Mary and prayed the rosary nightly. She was a pro at the daily crossword and Cryptoquip. Something that many people don’t know is that she loved to write and kept several journals filled with stories from her life. Jean especially loved children and was well loved in return. She raised two children of her own, and was blessed with five grandchildren, thirteen great- grandchildren and nine great-great- grandchildren. She was also godmother to twelve children. If you’ve ever spent time with Jean, you must have heard her laugh. She had a wonderful, sweet sense of humor. She found such joy and humor in everyday life and would laugh with abandon at all of life’s funny moments. She loved talking about favorite family memories and would laugh just as hard at the memory as she did when it actually happened.
Jean’s memory lives on with her sisters, Carol Kosobucki (Bob) and Mary Wilson (Jim), her brother, Harold “Bud” Felix (Ellie); her son, Dennis R. O’Hara, her daughter, Patricia J. Boucher (Jack); five grandchildren, Christopher O’Hara (Tina), Kimberly Mitulski, Dawn O’Hara Cardoza (Thomas), Lisa Steele Fetzko (Russell), Todd Steele; thirteen great-grandchildren, Kayla Mitulski (Vincent), Christopher Mitulski, Joshua Mitulski, Katelynn Mitulski, Rudy Fetzko, Joseph Fetzko, Todd Steele Jr., Ava Steele, Megan Cardoza Bullinger, Timothy Cardoza, Kayla Fish, Cody Fish; and nine great-great- grandchildren, Aiden Mitulski, Vincent and Kazimir Pribonic, Addison and Jesse Bullinger Jr., Lilleanna, MinaJean, KassiaJo, and Jonathon Murphy; and many nieces and nephews.
