Jean Jones

Jean Marie Lasher Jones, age 87, passed away in Erie on August 12, 2017. She was the daughter of the late Dr. Lemuel A. Lasher and Jewel M. Dudenhoeffer Lasher.

A lifelong resident of Erie, she was a graduate of Academy High School. She attended Goucher College and graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She was a wonderful homemaker and mother, and worked for Surgical Associates of Erie after raising her children.

She was a member of the Luther Memorial Church, Northfield League, Junior League of Erie, Daughters of the American Revolution, and Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. She was an extremely avid reader and also enjoyed bridge, golf, and music. Her knowledge of literature often allowed her to best everyone at Jeopardy, which she enjoyed watching every night. She had a great love of chocolate and all things sweet.

Jean will be remembered for her bubbly personality and her big smile. She had a wonderful sense of humor that she maintained throughout life. She also survived breast cancer and other serious medical issues with grace and with the belief that “God kept me around for a reason”.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin L. Jones, in 2011 and her brother, Dr. Robert L. Lasher, in 2015.

She is survived by her daughter Melissa L. Jones and her partner Alan Milhaven of Brookfield, Connecticut and son Paul W. Jones and his wife Teresa of Churchville, New York. She is also survived by her brother Dr. J. Donald Lasher of Pittsford, New York, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 W. 26th St., (at Powell Ave.), on Friday, August 18^th, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., and are invited to a memorial service there immediately following.
