Jean F. Heidelberg

September 15, 1949 — August 4, 2023

Jean F. Heidelberg, born September 15, 1949 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Carlee Heidelberg. She died August 4, 2023 at her residence in Brown Deer, WI. Jean and her family moved to Erie, PA in 1951.

Rev. Perry Keys organized the Sunday school at Mrs. Irene Wiley home on East 16th Street in 1952 and 1953. Jean was very young at that time. Later when St. Paul MB Church became organized on East 19th Street, under the leadership of Rev. Keys, she accepted The Lord as her personal savior. Jean attended John C. Deihl elementary school. Jean graduated from East High School. She always remembered Mr. Drew, one of her teachers at East. In 1969 Jean moved to Milwaukee, WI. She lived with her sister Annie until she got a job and an apartment. Jean babysat her nephews at various times, John and Maurice. She united the Ebenezer MB Church under the leadership of Rev. Ellis Grace. Jean was faithful to the usher board, an officer of the youth department and attended Sunday school.

She worked at Mickey’s Linen, Eagle Kitting, Allen Bradley, Xymoxx, and Ideal. After the long work history, she retired. Jean moved her membership to Greater St. Luke, under the leadership of Rev. Clarence Jones. She was faithful in attending Sunday service, prayer meetings, and bible study. One member in particular, she took back and forth to her many doctor’s appointments until the member passed. She was always willing to pick up members of the church. Jean enjoyed reading her bible and the inspirational books her brother Charley would send her. Jean was on the quiet side, kind and generous. She loved The Lord. Various conversations she would have with members, she would say what did the bible say, this is what we should believe and act upon with The Lord’s help. She really loved denim dresses and skirts. Jean enjoyed looking at Columbo and Perry Mason, and the Waltons. She loved traveling and enjoyed the breakfast her sister Annie would prepare.

She is survived by her siblings Mrs. Carleen Presley of Erie, Mr. Charley Heidelberg of Erie, and Ms. Annie Stewart of Brown Deer, WI. She is further survived by her aunt, Betty J. Swan, of Chicago, IL; brother-in-law, Dr. Vernon D. Dobbs and sister-in-law, Regina Heidelberg, both of Erie and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Jean is preceded in death by her parents Carlee and Susie Heidelberg, her brothers Joe and Robert Heidelberg, her sisters Mary Heidelberg Dobbs, and Sarah Heidelberg Perdue.
