Jean Flynn

May 13, 1916 — February 9, 2019

Jean M. Flynn, 102, died peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Westlake Woods.  She was born on May 13, 1916 of Italian immigrants; John and Concetta (DeVincentis) Mangin.

 

Jean was a 1933 graduate of Strong Vincent   High School.  She was accomplished in knitting, crocheting and sewing and used those talents in her work with Empty Arms and the Sunshine Group among many other volunteer organizations.

 

In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 73 years at the time of his death in 2008, Norbert T. Flynn; Sons-in-law,  Thomas Macaluso and Charles Litherland; and her grandson,  Alan Litherland; her sisters and their husbands:  Stella (Alphonso) DiPlacido, Rose (Eugene) Akre, Mary (Alfred) Benacci, Ann (Carmen) Pillitteri; her brothers and their wives:  Guissepe Mangin, Nunzio (Louise) Mangin, and Joseph (Dorothy) Mangin; her brother-in-law and his wife, Victor (Grace) Flynn, a sister-in-law and her husband,  Anna Mae (William) Brennan, and 8 nieces and nephews.

 

Survivors include three daughters; Kathleen Macaluso of Erie, Norma Litherland of Cincinnati, OH, and Dianne Stephan and her husband, Thomas of Fairview. Grandchildren, David (Yuan) Macaluso of Lexington, SC, Thomas (Robin) Macaluso of Lutz, FL, Anne (Dwayne) Blore, Kathy Jo (Jerome) Skolnik and Michael (Kristie) Stephan of Erie, Douglas (Cathy) Macaluso of Williamstown, NJ,  Kathleen (Brian) Lawler of Cincinnati, OH, and Daniel (Tiffany) Stephan of Pacifica, CA.  She is also survived by 20 great- grandchildren and 3 great- great grandchildren and 12 nieces and nephews.

 

Sincere appreciation is extended to the Staff of Westlake Woods for their loving care of Jean.

 

Friends are invited to call at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 7100 West Ridge Rd., Fairview on Friday, March 15, 2019 from 9:30 AM until 10:00 AM at which time a Memorial Mass will be celebrated. Private burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mercy Terrace, 430 E. Grandview Blvd., Erie, PA 16504.
