Jean Carroll

Jean M. Curtze Carroll, age 82, passed away on Monday, May 23, 2022 at Forestview.

Jean was born on January 13, 1940, in Erie, to Attorney Alban W. and V. Marie Shissler Curtze.

She attended Strong Vincent High School and graduated from Tech Memorial in 1957. Jean received her bachelor’s degree in Art History from Syracuse University. She would continue her love for art, a gift Jean received from her mother, through her drawings and paintings including a copyright to one of her original designs.

Jean also continued her support of the community through her work as a legal secretary, her work at the United Way of Erie County, and her volunteerism with the Erie Philharmonic.

Jean was quite an extraordinary woman and dedicated her life to her children. She was caring, refined, humble, kind and gentle. She enjoyed exploring her family’s genealogy and was an avid reader. Some of her favorite memories were created on vacations to the Jersey Shore with her children.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Louella C. Harman; brother, Edward W. Curtze; and granddaughter, Brynn A. Carroll.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughter, Laurie (George) Meyer; two sons, Chris J. (Joy) Carroll and John R. (Yazmin) Carroll; three grandsons, Ryan P. Carroll, James R. Carroll and Joseph R. Carroll; brother-in-law, Dennis S. Harman; sister-in-law, Marcia M. Putzbach; nephew, David W. Curtze; and niece, Pamela J. Boles.

Friends are invited to call on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services Inc. Downtown, 602 West 10th St., Erie 16502 from 10:00 A.M. until time of memorial service at 12:00 P.M. A private burial will take place in Erie Cemetery.
