Jean “Bud” William Anderson age 95, of Fairview, PA, passed away on Jan. 28th, 2016 at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Erie, on June 23rd, 1920, the son of the late Carl Henry and Ruth Irene (Place) Anderson.
He was an avid fisherman, archer, hunter, and boating enthusiast. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events. He was a member of the St. James Lutheran Church of Fairview, PA.
Jean attended Fairview High School. He served in the US Navy in the Pacific Ocean Theatre during WWII. He was a prior Fairview Township Planning Commission Member. He was a Lieutenant for the Company 5 State police of Crawford and Erie County for 17 years. He was also a 32nd degree Mason and a Lifetime Member of the Zem Zem Temple.
Jean was a previous Director and Lifetime Member of the Erie Skeet Club Association. He was also a lifetime member of the Keystone Blue Lodge 455, Walnut Creek Rifle Club and Gem City Outdoorsman Club.
Jean is preceded in death by his loving wife of 43 years Christine H. (Nelson) Anderson, and a sister Virginia (Anderson) Nystrom.
Jean is survived by his son Jon Anderson and wife Linda of Fairview; two daughters Christie Kulesza and her husband Gary of Erie; and Carla Hulse and her husband Todd of Allegany, NY.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Shalan Anderson and her husband Larry Biggie of Fairview, PA; Jillian Anderson and Jason Dahle of Edinboro, PA; Jessica Anderson and John Williams of Greene Township, PA; TJ Hulse of Pittsburgh, PA; and Trevor, Tiffany, and Tanner Hulse of Allegany, NY.
He is further survived by his great grandchildren, Brittany Biggie of Melbourne, FL; AJ, and Kendall Biggie of Fairview, PA; Zane Craig and Cole Williams of Greene Township, PA.
Jean will be remembered for his true wit and quick sense of humor, always willing to help everyone, and a master of all trades.
The family would like to thank Great Lakes and Great Lakes Hospice for the care that they provided, especially Janet, Beth, Melanie, and Julie.
Friends may call at the Burton West Lake Funeral Home 3801 W 26th St. (at Powell Ave.) Sunday from 2 pm to 4 pm and 6pm to 8pm and are invited to a service there Monday at 10 am with Reverend Charles Cammarata officiating, with burial to follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
