Janice Rand

Janice C. (Payne) Rand, 90, formerly of Lake City died Monday, July 11, 2022 at Hamot Medical Center in Erie.

She was born November 22, 1931, in McKean, PA, a daughter of the late E. Stanley Payne and Jeannette Weidle Payne.

She graduated from Rice Avenue Union High School in 1948. She retired in 1988 from the United States Postal Service in Girard where she had been a mail carrier for 19 years. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Girard. Janice enjoyed playing the trumpet, playing softball on a women’s team, traveling with Robert after retirement, visiting family in Alaska and lunches with her lady friends. She had a heart for helping her elderly friends and families with many children.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years Robert, son August Rand, baby girl Rand, and a sister Joyce Payne Jones.

Janice is survived by her children: Nancy Rupp and her husband Tim of Eagle River, AK, Anthony Rand of Girard, PA, Jerome Rand and his wife Sandra of Springfield, PA, Rose Thompson and her husband Mark of Albion, PA, Betty Rand of Eagle River, AK, Francis Rand of Conneaut, OH, Mary Ingram of Girard, PA, Daniel Rand of Lake City, PA and Dolores Rand of Titusville, PA, sister Bette Lou Kinsinger of TN, and sister-in-law Pat Baker; 12 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandson, and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main Street East in Girard on Thursday, July 14^th from 4pm to 7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, July 15 at 10 am at St. John Parish Center, 1001 Main St. East, Girard with Rev. Scott Detisch Celebrant.
